Shake Pit

It’s only fitting, after our visit to the car museum, that we pick up some classic shakes.

There aren’t enough nice things to say about Shake Pit. The food is amazing and the shakes keep you coming back. If you ever find yourself in Bradenton, be sure to make a quick stop.

Plenty of outdoor seating, and even an enclosed area during summer rainy season.

Bubblegum Milkshake – may sound weird, but it tastes just like bubblegum ice cream, but without the annoying pieces of gum. So good!

Burgers are made with your choice of toppings.

Our first stop on FlaOrangeBlossom does Florida took us to Campbell’s Dairyland. This hamburger and hot dog joint has been a staple in Brandon, Fla since the mid 80s and boasts a huge menu, with an equally large dessert menu.  Don’t be fooled by its appearance, the food is really good. I ordered a regular dog with ketchup and mustard, onion rings, and a root beer. While I’ll admit I wasn’t overwhelmed with the hot dog (it’s hard to beat a good baseball dog), the onion rings are to die for. They tasted like fair food perfection and weren’t greasy. My friend ordered a hamburger which came with Ruffles chips, and ordered a chocolate/black cherry shake. You have the choice of black cherry syrup, or real cherries, he chose real cherries.  From what he said, the hamburger was amazing. I did try a sip of the milkshake. Steak and shake, step aside ;).

Unfortunately it was pouring out, so we couldn’t enjoy the outdoor seating, but they do have a few small tables inside. Outside offers much more [roomier] seating and a few old-timey playground “rides” for kids–a bicycle merry go round, some bouncy horses, and a school bus with benches.

Campbell’s Dairyland is almost always packed and has that small-town feel.
